The good news is that the 10-day weather forecast looks reasonable but Wildflower is still Wildflower. My quest to break 6 hours has led me to a slightly different training regimen this year and I am hoping that it pays off.
First, I have spent a good amount of time on the computrainer trying to learn how to spin instead of mash and I believe that it has paid off. Julie has been helping out by writing me some wattage based workouts.
I also logged a fair amount of mountain biking while training for the Moab AR which helped in general base fitness. I was using an adapted 15 week 1/2 Ironman training program from Gail Bernhart’s book. Due to some travel plans I decided to dedicate about 10 days to running later on in the program which helped (until I got nailed by the stomach flu!)
My swimming is adequate and I decided to leave that until the last 3 weeks to get into passable shape and hurry my transitions if I am any slower than in the past.
Finally, I have curbed the over-eating in the last several weeks and am dropping some pounds. If I can get to about 177-178 then I think I’ll have every opportunity to have a great showing 🙂
